The Month of April 2026

From the Director’s Desk
The old saying puts it well “April showers bring us May flowers.”       How true this saying is. The showers of blessing that God rains down upon us here at the Galesburg Rescue Mission and Women’s Shelter are truly a blessing. Time does not permit nor could I write down all the ways that God has blessed us here at the Mission last month. For the majority of March we had a full house on the men’s side. That means that every night there were 40 men sleeping, eating, and showering here. On the women’s side they have had 15 or more most of the month of March also. That is extremely taxing on the budget. When we moved into our current location we had 15 men and 6 women. I never imagined in my wildest of dreams that we would have this many every month. That is more opportunity for more to hear the Good News of Jesus Christ. Everyone that comes through our doors hears the Gospel and is given the chance to respond to it. Right now as I said with this many here we are in a financial bind. The past few months there has not been enough money come in to cover the need. We could use some extra help as we get ready to go into the summer months. If the Lord should lay on your heart to give a bit more this month would you please listen to the urge and shower some blessings on the Mission. I want to thank everyone in advance for giving a bit more.

For Your Information
This month we will highlight our donation area. One whole wing of the building and several box trailers store our donations. Teresa Ehlers is in charge of the donation area. This is quite a large task here at the Mission.  There are around 40 people that come in and volunteer their time to come in a few hours a day and sort the donations and put them in their appropriate place. Every time I go down to the donation area it is like a bunch of worker ants that are preparing for winter. I love to go down there and see them all enjoying themselves and having a great time.
A big part of the donation area is the Clothing Room. This is where the clothes that are donated go. These donations are used to provide clothing to our residents as they come in and need them. We also have a Clothing Day on the second and fourth Wednesdays of every month. This starts at 1:30pm with a chapel service in the chapel.
Donations are accepted in the south parking lot by the blue door Monday – Friday 8:00am – 4:00pm. We also pick up select large items that are donated. Call the Mission 309-343-4151 for more information.

Thank you to all who have donated in the past your donations are greatly appreciated
