Galesburg Rescue Mission Women’s Shelter and Pregnancy Center 547 N Farnham St. ~ P.O. Box 591 ~ Galesburg, IL 61402 ~ 309-343-41 Heart Line News March 2025
From the Director’s Desk Springtime is not too far away!!! When it gets to be this time of year I think that everyone is ready for the nicer weather. Wintertime brings dark days, cold weather, no vegetation, and just a feeling of not much being accomplished. I have heard that because of all the darkness and things of winter it is the most depressing season. When the weather starts getting warmer, the grass turns green, the trees put on new leaves, and things begin to come alive, it seems as if the world is all good again. Yes, the snow reminds us of the way that Jesus washes our sins away though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool. The spring reminds us of the new life that we have in Christ. Paul shares with us about this new life we have in Christ Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. When we ask Christ to save us, we are born again we have been made alive to walk the way Christ wants us to. The Springtime reminds me that I have a new life in Christ and that I need to live like I am a new creature in Christ. There are too many that are saved and yet they still are living in the darkness of winter. I do not understand why a person, who knows Christ as their Savior and has new life, would want to life in the darkness of sin. Yet there are folks who live their entire lives as believers in the darkness and coldness of defeat. We need to step out of the darkness of winter into the new life of Springtime and live a victorious life with Christ. There are also too many trying to live that victorious life apart from Christ…this is an impossibility! As the weather gets nicer and the warmth of Spring comes, let’s remember who we are in Christ and what we have in Him and live the life He has for us as His children.
