Galesburg Rescue Mission Women’s Shelter and Pregnancy Center 547 N Farnham St. ~ P.O. Box 591 ~ Galesburg, IL 61402 ~ 309-343-4151 Heart Line News JUNE 2025
From the Director’s Desk This month Summer will officially begin! On June 21st at 9:41 pm, Summertime will officially begin. Summer brings many things. School is out, the swimming pools open, vacations take place, backyard cookouts, and many other things. The temperature and humidity will pick up also. I can remember as a child Summer was my favorite season. The day school was out my shirt was off, and my swimsuit was on. I would get a season pass at the Selah Swimming Pool and that is where you could find me most of the day. My nose would turn red and peel from the sunburn that would come with the Summer. One week out of the Summer I would go to Church Camp; this was really the highlight of the Summer. All year long I would anticipate this week. I love going to Church camp! At camp we would have some great men teach us the truths of God’s Word. They would tell the Bible stories that made us feel like we were right there in person. Many decisions were made during that week that have affected my life to this day. Maybe you have kids or grandchildren that are of the age that they could go to camp, I would encourage you to do your best to send them to a week of Church Camp. I believe that this week would change their life forever. With summer the electricity bill here at the Mission will almost double. Please consider doing a little extra to the Mission for help with this bill. This month we focus on Shadi Cunningham; Shandi is a local girl, she was born at OSF St. Marys Medical Center here in Galesburg. She accepted Christ as her Savior on December 10, 2011 and has been walking with the Lord since then. She is married to Christopher and has 2 dogs and 2 cats. Shandi came to us when a group from a recovery home came to her Church and she saw the need to help homeless people and those in need. She took over the job of Woman’s Director in January of this year. She is doing a great job guiding the ladies here at the Women’s Shelter. The biggest joy of her life is knowing Jesus Christ as her personal Savior. She said, “She thought she was happy before she got saved, but now she really knows what happiness is.” Some of the challenges she faces in helping the women here is making sure that they come to know Christ and move on with their lives. Shandi has added a lot to the Women’s Shelter and it doing a great job. Stop by and meet her in person and let her know you are praying for her

Women’s Pregnancy Center What a blessed year we have had so far. Welcome to the beginning of Summer. There are many plans on the works for the Pregnancy Center. We have an official name change to Women’s Pregnancy Center of Galesburg. Nothing too fancy but it is registered now. We still have a lot of paperwork to do but God is directing our path for His plan! Praise His holy name!! We have performed 8 Ultrasounds since we became a limited medical center. All moms and babies so far are doing well. This has been an amazing journey to get to where we are. Thank you all that are faithful in giving your generous monthly donations to keep the Center able to meet the needs of moms and babies in our little region of the world. Our Trivia night was amazing. We raised enough to cover 2 of our biggest bills this half of the year. THANK YOU! The biggest need right now is someone with a knack for cleaning and a spare 2-3 hours on Fridays. Also, Lysol spray and paper towels. We would not be here if it wasn’t for God’s mighty plan and those of whom He uses to keep us operational. We ask for your continual generosity and much needed prayer as we meet the needs of the moms an unexpected blessings they carry. Dawn Walter- Director
