547 N. Farnham/P.O. Box 591 Galesburg, Illinois 61402 309-343-4151 [email protected] galesburgrescuemission.org From the Director’s Desk This month we celebrate the event that changed history. We call this day Christmas, the day that the Lord Jesus Christ was born as a man. The main reason He was born was to give His life for the sins of the world. Some times I try to imagine what it must have felt like to be Mary and Joseph on this special night. They both were told that this child was going to be born and where it was to happen, and His name. They were to be the earthly parents of the very Son of God. I have a feeling that some how Mary knew that this child she gave birth to would die for the sins of the world. I am sure that her heart rejoiced for His birth and also broke when she thought about His purpose. I believe that Joseph was a great father to Jesus. He taught Him to be a carpenter. They raised Him up in the Jewish faith. I believe that Jesus lived a normal childhood. He cried when He fell down and laughed when He was being silly. Now days there are so many things that distract us from the real meaning of Christmas. We have lists with 100 things to do before December 25th. We have gifts to buy, we have parties to go to, we have all kinds of things that we put above the celebration that it should be. As we go through out this month, I want to encourage us to remember the real reason for the season...JESUS and not let these other things become so overwhelming that they distract us from Him. Be extra careful not to replace Him with an “X.” Satan is doing his best to take Christ out of CHRISTmas completely. Make sure and wish folks “Merry Christmas” and not happy holidays. I would like to say a huge thanks to everyone who participated in our 41st annual Share-A-Thon. It was a huge success. As of now we have had $96,742.93 come in and are praying that more will come in. This is a record amount for this event. It is the biggest fund raiser of the year. Every single penny will go towards housing, clothing, feeding and giving Jesus to those in need. It will go a long way in accomplishing our goals. You also should have received a Christmas mail out. Please give through this to help us keep the doors of the Galesburg Rescue Mission and Women’s Shelter open to help those in need. Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year
Women’s Pregnancy Center Merry Christmas! This time of year we will be celebrating the birth of our Lord and Savior. Imagine if Mary had decided to kill her baby because she did not want to live a life weighed down by a child. How would mankind have survived without a Savior. We would all be doomed to live eternity away from our Creator, which is what Hell is.No one knows the path that God has laid out for each one of us. We tend to think WE are able to do it all and be it all and control our lives. I am so thankful that Galesburg has a place where women can go to help them put their pregnancy in the perspective of a loving God. Each of the lives on this earth have value. Pregnancy is how we bring forth each life and it does not matter how the pregnancy happened, it was written in the plan. Each one of us has the obligation to show the value of life to others. No one walks the same path and this should not be judged for it. God doesn't. He gave us His Son so that ALL will be saved. This Christmas remember that babies are innocent and have a purpose for their lives even before they are born, God knows. Please continue to pray for our Ultrasound project. We are waiting on a quote for insurance before we actively open for clients. Praying to end the year being able to offer Ultrasound pregnancy verification for clients with positive pregnancy tests. Thank you to everyone who supports us financially every month and those who volunteer their time at the Center. You are truly the hands and feet of our Lord! I am blessed by you all.
Dawn Walter Thanks to all that support the Pregnancy Center in any way
