We are a community social service agency that offers hope for the homeless, the hungry, the poor and needy, the addicted, the mentally challenged, victims of domestic violence, ex-prisoners, the lonely and the lost. We do not discriminate on the basis of age, sex, handicap, race, color, religion, nationality or ethnic origin.
We are a locally based ministry supported by concerned individuals and groups. The mission is directed by a board of ten volunteers and operated by full and part-time employees. We rely on many volunteers from the community.
We are a respected Knox County institution founded in 1941 by Rev. and Mrs. Sylvester Sanford. Originally located on the Public Square in Galesburg, the mission moved to 266 E. South Street in 1966 and to 1021 S. Seminary Street in 1976. Our current location, the former Douglas School building at 435 E. Third Street, has been our home since 1983. Over the years the property has undergone several additions and remodeling. Our new home is located at 547 N. Farnham Street. We moved in October of 2023. This new facility is extremely nice. We can house up to 48 men and women.
